I build machine learning systems to better understand and communicate how people, institutions, and information interact. I'm interested in messy, nuanced real-world questions rather than benchmark optimisation alone.

In practice, I focus on applications in law and justice, critical infrastructure, and explainable AI. Whether I'm working with engineers, management, end users, or even friends and family, I care about explaining ideas in ways that actually make sense to the audience.

My path here was not linear: I studied physics as an undergraduate, worked in health technology, conducted neuroscience research, and spent two years in a clinical psychology doctorate. Realising that my interests lie at the intersection of computation and language, I moved to Switzerland to study computational linguistics and machine learning. This breadth allows me to move between technical and human-centred perspectives.
